Materials from the Bagshawe family of Ford Hall, one of the oldest families in Derbyshire, that include the papers of Colonel Samuel Bagshawe (d 1762) and his brother-in-law Sir James Caldwell (d1784) were donated to the John Rylands Library in 1950. Here the editor is concerned with the papers of Sir James Caldwell, his corresondence with Dr Johnson and the Caldwell Minute.36pp.
