Editor Blanpain,R.
Although no one disputes that employment relations worldwide have been greatly affected by globalisation, no clear consensus has emerged on the nature and significance of this impact. The seven contributions to this symposium pursue a comparative approach, suggesting that direct analysis of employment relations in distinct industries in two comparably-sized economies since the advent of globalisation leads to a more precise understanding of the interaction of globalisation and employment relations, and sets a pattern for other studies to follow. The economies studied in the symposium are Australia and Korea, and the industries are automobile (and auto parts) manufacturing and retail banking. In both countries, labour unions play a key role in the way in which employers and governments react to political and economic pressures. 151pp.

Hall, Stuart; Held, David; McGrew, Tony
Modernity and its Futures is a major introductory textbook which examines the forces reshaping modern industrial societies and the new patterns, structures and relationships that are emerging in the contemporary world. The key debates about these changes are introduced and critically discussed; they include the transformation of Eastern Europe, the collapse of the USSR, globalisation, environmental challenges, post industrialism, cultural change and post–modernism. The book also looks back to the formation of modern societies, and of social science, to explore the character of 'modernity' and the relationship between 'early–modern' and 'post–modern' societies, and assess whether the paradigms and theories used to analyse 'modern' societies are adequate for social formations today. 391pp. N.B. This text is in Spanish. Compiled by Vision Publishers from Beside the Still Waters Ministries, this is a 365-day devotional book. The pieces found in this book were selected from the first three years of the bimonthly devotionals distributed free throughout the United States by Still Waters Ministry of Clarkson, Kentucky. These readings are as diverse as the men who wrote them. Few books will possess so many different challenges because few books have so many authors that hold your attention. There is a theme verse for each day and a short Bible reading at the end of each day's reading. By following the Bible reading schedule at the bottom of each reading, you will read through the Bible in one year. 370pp.

Yeatman, Anna
Previous owner's signature on ffep.In "Postmodern Revisionings of the Political", Anna Yeatman examines the implications of postmodernist theory for the institutions of liberal and social democracy. In this study, she rethinks the role of modern emancipatory values, such as equality, in the context of postmodern politics of difference. Yeatman discusses the relation of a politics of difference to existing traditions of modern citizenship. While she affirms modern democratic achievements, she argues that our concept of democracy must be informed by postmodern critical theory. She explores the relationship between these two sets of concepts in terms of the politics of knowledge, the university and in the modern body politic.141pp.
