Keck, L. Robert
Robert Keck's new science of the collective human soul's evolutionary journey makes sense of current, world-wide paradigm shifts and faith-quakes, and it promotes our participation in spiritual emergence. Scientists, examining "Lucy's" ancient remains, learned much about how she lived, but nothing about what she valued in her heart. Keck's original "Deep-value Research", going beyond science, investigates the deep causal values that shape human cultures and determine why certain thought and behaviour become dominant. Despite our longing for stability and predictability, science suggests that the universe is not a steady-state reality. Keck's research suggests a similarity in the spiritual realm: change, evolution, and transformation are basic ingredients of the soul's history. Keck's model divides the soul's evolution into three stages. Epoch I, lasting from about 35,000 to 10,000 years ago, corresponds to "childhood". Epoch II, from 10,000 years ago to the present, is the soul's "adolescence." We are now experiencing the chaos of the transformation to Epoch III, our spiritual adulthood. Keck explains the unique confusion within which we live by identifying those spiritually adolescent values that are dying and those adult ones being born. "Questions for those on a quest", which conclude each chapter, encourage us to seek the meaning and purpose of our connections-to other people, to nature, and to the Spirit that creates, permeates, and sustains the universe. 292pp. N.B. Rear free end paper creased. D/J slightly marked and rubbed.

Tunney, Sean
Labour sought to develop policies regulating newspaper ownership and the role of journalists. It endeavoured to both correct what it perceived as press bias against the Labour Party and to address the broader issues of political and cultural diversity. "Labour's & the Press, 1972-2005" provides a lucid analysis of how Labour's policies on the press sit within the context of the party's overall development - from Harold Wilson, through the party's flirtation with Robert Maxwell, to the robust approach of Tony Blair. It offers a fresh insight into New Labour's concern with press management and political communications. The author demonstrates how tensions of the past shed new light on Labour Party practices of the present. 212pp.

This book, the proceedings of Falk Symposium 133 on Mechanisms of Intestinal Inflammation: Implications for Therapeutic Intervention in IBD', held in Berlin, Germany, on 10-11 June 2003, summarizes present knowledge in the area of unspecific and specific immune reactions in the gut, recording the gaps in our knowledge and, in particular, presenting the possibilities of targeted intervention. The link to inflammatory bowel diseases - Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis - is always in focus. Chapters by an international panel of basic scientists, clinical researchers and clinicians also record the problems which can originate through today's possible modulation of the immune reaction, setting the basis for review of clinical problems. This book is valuable readings for all scientists and physicians, who, from different perspectives, have an interest in research on IBD and in the clinical management of these diseases. 220pp
