Keegan, Marcia
For Marcia Keegan, recording the traditional ways of the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico has been a life-long commitment. Keegan is the only photographer to date who has been allowed to take pictures in all 19 New Mexico Pueblos. "Pueblo People" takes us inside each of these communities and introduces us, in a unique fashion, to the personal dimensions of Indian culture. Including 417 colour photographs taken recently and over the past 30 years, as well as personal stories and quotes offered by her Pueblo friends, Keegan's book presents a remarkable portrait of the continuity of families, traditions, and culture. Representing a continuing diary of Keegan's personal relationship with the Pueblos of New Mexico, the book stands as a tribute to the people, their way of life, and the villages in which they have lived for centuries.263pp.

de Bruyn, Gerd
This work contains text in English and German. In the summer 1978, the cover of the magazine "Bauwelt" showed a photograph of an unusual building. It was tersely introduced to readers as a 'private house with office in Bad Nauheim', but it was immediately obvious that this was a built manifesto. What appeared was a strictly symmetrically articulated, steeply rising facade, emanating dignity and composure. It also seemed able to manage without windows, which further enhanced its austere elegance. And then there were the strikingly slender, sharp-angled wall elements, which seemed captivatingly graceful, or even delicate and fragile - as though folded from paper. The fact is that, long before Gilles Deleuze had cast his spell on a new generation of aesthetically ambitious architects, Johannes Peter Holzinger was putting his folding skills into practice as a matter of course. 59pp.

Norton,Joseph J. Editor
The fourth volume of this Yearbook provides essays, articles, comments and analyses of developments throughout the previous year. The new essay section of this volume is contributed by Shangquan Gao, Senior Professor in the State Council of PRC who examines the negative influence of the Asian financial crisis on China. Professor Eva Holz, Deputy Governor at Uruguayan Central Bank, Dr Michael Gruson, Senior Banking Partner at Shearman & Sterling, and Professor Geoffrey Wood of City University are some of the contributors of major articles in the edition. One of the salient features of the volume is that it focuses on new developments in post-financial crisis restructuring measures taken by various countries, such as PRC, Brazil and Japan. Complementary to this issue, globalization, international financial stability, and international capital flows are also discussed comprehensively. The period covered by the volume has witnessed major financial and economic law reform projects in various areas of the world. The volume offers comprehensive analysis of these reforms including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 in the US and its influence on the global financial sector, progress in collateral law reform in Central and Eastern Europe, the development of securities law and the Internet in the UK, commercialization of China's land use right, reform of Hong Kong property tax system, and legal changes in Japanese asset securitisation and investment. Some issues are re-explored in this volume from new and different perspectives. The discussion of the integration of insurance and other financial services in Taiwan, of the Lender of Last Resort, of the solutions to the non-performing loan problems in China, of capital adequacy under the Basle new capital adequacy framework, and sovereign debt restructuring in Latin America will offer the readers new insights into these issues. This volume should appeal to anyone with an interest in international financial and economic law throughout the world. Its broad geographic scope and the expertise of the contributors offer an indispensable chance for the readers to keep abreast with developments in a rapidly changing area of the law.553pp.

Edited By Whaley,K.;Loos,M. And Weiler,J.M.
The complement system plays a major role in the host's defence against infections and in immune complex diseases. Although it is known to consist of a number of serum and membrane proteins that interact through a cascade, there is still a poor understanding of the exact nature of the components and their complex interaction. Many of the biological consequences of complement activation also await elucidation. This fully revised edition of "Complement in Health and Disease" provides an up-to-date account of how the system works and its effects on the host. Key topics covered include the history, phylogeny and evolution of the system; genetics and biochemistry; deficiency states and infection; immune complex diseases; complement and angioedema; anaphylatoxins; and diseases of the nervous system. The book is valuable both for those wanting an introduction to this complex area of immunology as well as those requiring a more detailed update on developments in specific topics.383pp.
