Kantor, J. R.
This volume is a selection of papers representing the efforts of one student of psychology and of the history and analysis of science, to channel psychology towards the goal of natural science, and to urge that all the constructions of science (descriptions and interpretations) be derived exclusively from contacts with confronted things and events. As the earliest articles indicate, from his first professional concern with psychology, Dr. Kantor has been a reprobative witness of the spiral development of psychology from pure mentalism, through a behavioural era, and back to a modified mentalism. The author has chosen thirty-six papers that have been grouped into eleven sections, each covering important issues within the general scientific or specialised psychological domain. In every case the author's intention was to indicate the direction psychology and the other sciences should go in order to reach a naturalistic status. N.B. Editor in Chief Mansour,Camille
This yearbook, now in its 11th volume, is a primary source of information on significant and topical legal issues relating to the Palestinian territories. It provides, in a single annual volume, not only leading articles on topics of major interest to the international legal community, but also key legislation, court decisions, legal cases, treaties, resolutions, special reports, and other relevant legal material translated from the original Arabic or Hebrew into English. This particular volume is devoted specifically to the question of Palestinian refugees and includes: a comparison of the international legal framework designed to protect refugees with the framework already established for the protection of Palestinian refugees; an examination of the various pieces of legislation enacted to "legally" confiscate Palestinian lands; raising the question as to how the plight of Palestinian refugees may be addressed in the international legal system; legal precedents regarding refugees, including the Dayton accord and UN Resolutions; various agreements signed over the course of the past year; a detailed bibliography of books, monographs and articles; and a comprehensive index. This volume, as with its predecessors, should prove an invaluable source of reference and record on the complex legal issues relating to the Palestinian territories, and will be of prime interest to legal practitioners, researchers, scholars and anyone involved in law, politics, human rights or international relations who has an interest in this region.448pp.

Weedon, Chris
N.B. Previous owners inscription to ffep. What do the theories of poststructuralism have to offer contemporary feminism? In a discussion which assumes no prior knowledge of these complex theoretical issues, the author argues that feminism is a politics which depends for its effectiveness on an alliance of theory and practice. Making the case that poststructuralism is the theory with the most explanatory and practical relevance to feminism, she examines the possibilities for a feminist practice. In "Feminist Practice and Poststructuralist Theory" she suggests that patriarchal power is structural: it exists in institutions and social practices and not merely in individual intentions. It is, therefore, not a part of immutable nature but open to effective theoretical analysis and practical change. To develop this view, she mobilizes recent poststructuralist developments in the theory of language, subjectivity and power to develop a sophisticated feminist politics that takes into account not only questions of language and gender but also of class and race. Her argument, finally, is that it is through poststructuralist theory that an adequate feminist practice may emerge. 187pp.
