The International Labour Law Reports is a series of annual publications of labour law judgements by the highest courts in a number of jurisdictions. ILLR is intended primarily for the use of judges, labour law practitioners, industrial relations specialists and students who need or desire ready access to authoritative information of a comparative nature on problems arising in the field of labour law and industrial relations. Each judgement reprinted in ILLR is accompanied by headnotes and in practically all cases by an annotation which sets forth, among other things, the legal issues involved, the basic facts of the case (if not included in the judgement itself), the relevant statutory provisions and judicial precendents, the labour law and industrial relations context in which the case arose and the significance of the judgement in the development of the law. The ILLR provide the reader with factual information that aims not to be coloured by the personal views of the annotators. As a rule, judgements are printed in extenso; editorial discretion has been relied upon to delete or to summarize portions of judgements that are purely technical or only of marginal interest. Volume 17 covers the period 1 October 1996 to 30 September 1997. 500pp.

Best, Henry B. M.
Although Charles Best is known for discovering insulin, the story of his life neither begins nor ends with that one moment. Not only did he make many other discoveries, he was also one half of an extraordinary couple who, during their almost sixty years together, were involved in many of the significant events of the twentieth century. Margaret & Charley is the story of these two people from their beginnings on the east coast at the turn of the century through the years that followed. Through diaries, scrapbooks, photograph albums, and other documentation, the details of their lives are shared with the reader. 542pp. N.B. Some damage to rear board, bumped and a little warped. Edited By Schmid,R. Etc.
The advent of molecular biology and recombinant DNA technology has changed contemporary medicine profoundly. These new scientific tools have made it possible to identify and understand pathological mechanisms at cellular, subcellular and molecular levels which has added previously unimaginable novel dimensions to the diagnosis, therapy and prevention of a rapidly increasing number of diseases of the liver and biliary system. The title of this book expresses this epochal progress in hepatology. A series of acute or chronic diseases of the liver has been chosen whose modern clinical management reflects the impact of the new scientific insight gained from molecular biology. The book, the proceedings of the 87th Falk Symposium (X International Congress of Liver Diseases: Part II of the Basel Liver Week 1995) held in Basel, Switzerland, October 19-21, 1995, first presents an overview of the molecular pathology of the chosen disease, followed by discussions of the clinical inference which this new scientific information entails for diagnosis, management and therapy. This approach is expected to ease the readers' endeavour to connect basic to clinical science and to facilitate appreciation of the enormous progress but also of the inherent limitations and emerging questions which modern molecular biology has brought to clinical medicine.N.B.D/J spine slightly faded with slight mark to base of d/j spine.396pp.
