This text follows on from Kluwer's "International Encyclopaedia for Labour Law and Industrial Relations", in which almost 70 international and national monographs have been published. This textbook and reference work goes a step further than the encyclopaedia, in as much as most of the chapters provide comparative and integrated thematic treatment. The aim is to describe the salient characteristics and trends in labour law and industrial relations in the contemporary world. This seventh edition should be of interest to teachers and students of comparative labour law and industrial relations, as well as to labour lawyers and HRM and industrial-relations specialists.698pp.N.B.Slight fade mark to base of spine.

Edited By Tymieniecka,Anna-Teresa
"Does the World exist?" There would be no reason to resurrect this question of modernity from its historical oblivion were it not for the fact that recent evolution in science and technology, impregnating culture, makes us wonder about the nature of reality, of the world we are living in, and of our status as living beings within it. Thus great metaphysical subjacent queries are forcefully revived, calling for new investigations to proceed in the light of the innumerable novel insights of science. This collection presents a wealth of material toward an elaboration of a new metaphysical groundwork of the ontopoiesis/ phenomenology of life sought to effect such investigations. The classic postulates of the metaphysics of reality, those of necessity and certainty here find a new formulation. Away from sclerotized ontological and cognitive assumptions and congenial with the views of contemporary science, the understanding of reality, of our world of life, and of ourselves within it is to be sought in the existential/ontopoietic ciphering of life (Tymieniecka). 882pp.

N.B.Top inch of book spine has been bumped otherwise As New.This book is copiously illustrated with archive photographs as well as high quality pictures depicting the Portuguese golf resorts developed under the Jordan Group banner, including photographs of many of the world's top golfers in action and famous personalities from sport, show-business, politics and business who attended the many major events organised by the Group. The main theme of the book centres on how the Andre Jordan Group changed the whole course of golfing history in Europe and boosted tourism in the Algarve by setting a new trend in golf and leisure resort development which others were later to imitate if not equal. Quinta do Lago, based on the American country club concept, was the first of its kind in Portugal and it became the blueprint for the future development of residential golf resorts in Portugal. The emphasis in the editorial is on creativity and innovation and especially the Group's commitment to strict eco-friendly principles in the design and construction or renovation and management of quality resorts (ie: Quinta do Lago, Belas Clube de Campo and Vilamoura) which today boast championship courses recognised as world class. The story also strongly underlines the imaginative marketing and new ideas that, for example, brought the Portuguese Open to Quinta da Lago in 1976 and helped to keep the championship on the European calendar at a very difficult time. A further series of seven Opens were to follow at Quinta do Lago as well as many other major tournaments such as the Algarve World Cup and the Taca Presidente da Republica. These events attracted worldwide Press and TV coverage, thereby promoting the region as a tourist destination and doing much to encourage investment. Some of the most prominent names in the world of golf have contributed information, recollections, anecdotes and commendations on the achievements of the Andre Jordan Group and this has done much to enliven and enrich the editorial. They include Arnold Palmer, Colin Montgomerie, William 'Rocky' Roquemore, William Hawtree, Ken Schofield, and, Peter Adams.248pp.

Women today are paying close attention to the men's movement as it radiates out from the US. Some of them like what they see and hope that men at home are coming to terms with the realities of true partnership and shared power, others are downright sceptical, complaining about the chorus of whining white men. Still others hold a deep-rooted fear that the men's movement has only legitimized a fashionable new form of woman-hating. This book looks at the men's movement, with contributions from women writers such as Nicole Hollander, Rosemary Radfors Ruether and Starhawk. By the author of "International Affairs: a Journalkeeping Workbook for Self-Intimacy" and "Habit of Freedom". 175pp. N.B. Previous owners inscription to ffep.
