Seltzer, Vicki L. (editor); Pearse, Warren H. (editor)
This work provides the primary care physician - obstetrician/gynaecologist, family practitioner, and internist - with an all-encompassing review of office-based management of the full spectrum of disorders and conditions presented by the female patient. Pressure from insurance companies, the government, patient, and organized medicine itself now require that a women's primary care provider handle not only all obstetric and gynaecologic concerns, but also be skilled at delivering cost-effective management of other medical problems in the office setting. This text helps the reader develop the necessary skills to accomplish this. 825pp.

Ebbatson, R
In the 1990s, it was the French theorists such as Derrida, Lacan and Foucault who, with their stress on linguistic play and undecidability, took Victorian Studies by storm; now, it seems, it is the Germans who are coming. In Roger Ebbatson's new book, Marx, Simmel, Benjamin and, above all, Heidegger are unleashed on a range of Victorian texts - some unsuspecting, some all too suspecting. The results are alarming: Ebbatson begins with Tennyson overshadowed by empire and homosocial tensions and ends with Conan Doyle writing about a bicycle belonging to a character called Heidegger. In between, he makes bone-shaking progress over a Victorian terrain marked out by Thomas Hardy, Richard Jefferies, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and Robert Louis Stevenson; along the way, Ebbatson considers shipwrecks, money, nature, the South Seas Mission, and 'final solutions'. Tennyson, we discover, was afraid of his own shadow, Hopkins's greatest poem was created by erratic compasses, Hardy wrote like Kafka, Stevenson was drawn to murderous missionaries, and Conan Doyle applauded the concentration camp. Ebbatson shows us that what the Germans bring to our understanding of the nineteenth century is a terrible awareness of the darkest moments of the darkest moments of the twentieth century. 172pp. N.B. Singsangob,Aunya
There is no longer any doubt that public access to computer software and information is essential for the economic development of every country on earth, rich and poor. Yet it is precisely here, in this most forward-looking of technologies, that the ancient legal battle lines of private ownership versus public interest are being drawn again, with extreme intransigence, in the field of international law pertaining to intellectual property rights. In a situation bristling with ironies, it is particularly disturbing that the rampant software piracy in developing nations undermines local development of this crucial economic sector, halting growth and actually reinforcing the global dominance of a few US companies. It is urgently necessary to create a legal framework that not only protects licensors and makes piracy unattractive, but also fosters the growth of software and information industries in every country - and particularly in those emerging countries most desperate for economic recovery. This text presents the case for such a framework. 302pp.
