Edited By Duncan,Roderick
This text gives an account of the SPECT technique, including basic aspects of radiation, radiation dosimetry and radiation protection, and the use of SPECT in major domains such as epilepsy, psychiatric disorders, head injury, cerebrovascular disorders, and cerebral neoplasm. It is written mainly by neuroclinicians with a wide experience of using SPECT in their own clinical domain. The book can therefore, serve as a practical guide for neuroclinicians who are less familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of SPECT. It is also of interest to nuclear medicine specialists who would like to know more about the clinical applications of the technique. This text is a concise guide, concentrating largely on the major applications of the technique. 193pp.

Spector, Horacio
Moral and political theorists who espouse Egalitarianism and Marxism tend to assume that it is extremely hard, if not impossible, to put forward an original and plausible moral justification of classical liberalism. Professor Spector is concerned to build just such a justification. He reconstructs and then criticizes a familiar approach to the moral foundations of classical liberalism which rests on the maximization of negative freedom, and then frames an alternative theory centered in the deontological protection of positive freedom. In doing so he parts company not only with utilitarianism and contractarianism, but also with the theory of natural rights. Among the topics he discusses are the concepts of negative and positive freedom, the notion of a moral right, the connection between positive freedom and personal autonomy, the axiological uniqueness of each human being, and the agent-relativity of moral reasons. 196pp. N.B. Spiegl, Fritz
This dictionary is, in the very best sense, "a good read." It explains the meanings and derivations of the medical terms, abbreviations, mnemonics, and slang used by doctors, nurses, and health-care professionals publicly and privately. It defines, for instance, the abbreviations doctors use in writing prescriptions and explains the Latin and Greek derivations of medical terms. The author writes clearly and often humorously, not hesitating to voice his personal opinions. He guides his readers through the world of medical language like a good friend-clarifying, cautioning, and teaching with wit and laughter. 171pp.
